The First Day of WWDMAGIC

It was 2 am when Fermin shook me awake. In a haze I asked why he was waking me up an hour early. It turns out I hadn't read the airport shuttle schedule correctly - thank goodness he was one step ahead of me! Fast forward to 7:35 am; I had my luggage, and it was off to the time share. A quick breakfast of coffee and smoothies, an outfit change, and we were off!

I have often tried to imagine what WWDMAGIC is like. Ever since 2008 when I had my first fashion PR internship, I have been dying to attend. So, when I rounded that corner on the top floor of the breeze way at the Las Vegas Convention Center, I was so excited that I squealed. We were here!! We were REALLY here!!
Did you know that there are dj's for the venue? It's true; there is a dj who spins live music while buyers, vendors, buyers-in-training, bloggers, and media buzz all about the venue. There are golf carts that wait simply to whisk you off to another hall of the convention, daily fashion shows, and artists that are there painting live. Within the Convention Center there is the Social Media House where blogger panels meet to discuss storytelling through social media. There are seminars for buyers, and seminars that discuss the next pantone color for the season. (When I was a little girl my mother told me that such seminars existed, but I didn't believe her. Who actually chooses a trend color for the next season I had wondered..It turns out these people do!)
It was a busy day. I packed heels for photos only; there is no way I could have covered all the ground I did that day without being in comfy flat sandals. The day was full of pleasant surprises, running (again, figuratively) here and there, visiting hotel suites, changing heels in elevators, and making new friends. Over this upcoming week I'll be posting material to share with you!

That day I had four appointments: Willow & Clay, Ducks in a Row, Fashion First Aid, and Wildfox. Tomorrow I will tell you all about Kim and her brand Fashion First Aid. Hint? Kim specializes in creating solutions to everyday problems that you wish you had thought of!
