I wore this outfit to go to an event I have never attended before: a meet-up. No, not the kind for singles. It was a women's meet up. I got there about 15 minutes early, and the others got there about 12 minutes late. To say that I was freaking out would be an understatement. It was $2 appetizer night and while sitting at the bar (drinking soda water), I ordered black bean and cheese taquitos. What I got was a mouthful of un-identified meat. I'm vegetarian.
The evening got much better however once the girls started to arrive. Actually, it was a lot of fun! Meeting other women from all walks of life, all with fun and interesting stories to tell, proved surprisingly uplifting. I'm surprised that I never thought of joining a group like this before.
Well, I take that back. I never considered joining a group like this because I was afraid that it was for either a) lonely people, or b) uber wealthy snobby trophy wives. I was certainly not the latter, and I hoped I wasn't the former. Whatever my misgivings on women groups, I had a lot of fun. There was no loud music, no dancing, and no men. Just a few women sitting in a circle, talking and having a good time.
(It just dawned on me that I've never been to a blogger meet up...how?!)
