I have a good feeling about this year. Like, a really really good feeling. It has been so long since I’ve had a positive outlook about a new year, so I’m vowing to myself now to make the best of it. To get myself started (and to keep myself on track) I am starting with what I know I can do: which is to keep myself as healthy as possible, and to set myself up for personal success. The way I’m doing this is by starting with my mental, physical, and emotional health, and building strong healthy habits.

First things first: I’m not really a New Year’s Resolutions type of gal; I’m more of an annual mantra type, as I view mantras as being quite personal, and powerful for speaking positivity into the universe. And, we could all use a little extra positivity in our lives, no matter who or where we are! The first three lines of my 2020 Mantra are:

I Am Beautiful
I Am Intelligent
I Am Worthy of Love

Science tells us that it takes roughly 66 days to form a strong habit. I want 2020 to be a year of healthy, strong habits! To help keep me on track, accountable, and form healthy and strong habits, I have also downloaded the Noom program. Have you heard of Noom?

What is Noom? Noom is a personalized health and wellness mobile program designed to help you achieve and maintain your health and weight loss goals for the long run. No fad diets, or food scales. The Noom program provides users with a personalized diet plan and access to a health coach (Noom Concierge), helping and encouraging you to reach your goals in real-life ways. The program encourages habit-formation, which can result in real, long term maintenance of your goals once they have been reached. Lose weight for good with Noom.

How it works What I really love about Noom is that it encourages users to consume real, nutrient dense foods - and provides recipes! After taking the program quiz (which will assist you in setting goals), an algorithm assess your personal needs broken down into exercise, and calories (further broken down by fat, carbs, and protein). The program asks that you to track your meals, which helps to stay in touch with what is being consumed. It also gives great meal ideas to keep you inspired and on-track. As a life-long vegetarian, I thought I was well versed in all things meat-free - which I am, but I am also pleased to say that this program has also taught me new tricks as well. Example: cauliflower in smoothies! It doesn’t change the flavor of the smoothie at all, but instead makes it thick and creamy, and adds in extra nutrients and fiber. A total win.

How I’m liking Noom Honestly, I really love it. I’m not big on tracking my meals or food intake, but I do love the new hearty, vegetable-heavy recipes I have discovered. I already eat plenty of vegetables, so I am always looking for new ways to consume them! I really like the soup recipes as they are loaded with veggies. Plus, I like that the recipes are accessible within the program, which makes grocery shopping incredibly easy (I am known to get quite anxious while at the grocery store). I also really like that I can save my favorite recipes so that I can come back to them later. I also love how many vegetarian recipes they have! The Noom Program also connects with my other health apps which makes syncing a breeze. My Noom Concierge, Eva, has also been a welcome encouragement.

Again, I think a huge part of achieving our personal goals is to set ourselves up for success. By having my daily 2020 mantra that I repeat to myself every day, and working with Noom - a program that helps me form new strong healthy eating habits, I believe I am on the right path for heading in a positive direction. I’m super excited! What about you? What goals, or mantras do you have for yourself? In your comment below tell me what you’re looking forward to this year, and how the Noom program can help you!
