DIY Embellished Boots for Spring

There's something about spring that makes opposites attract. Perhaps it's the weather; the sun is finally out and shining, but the wind still has enough of a chill to require layers. Eager for better weather I will often find myself reaching for a billowy blouse, but layering it with a heavier wool blazer...Of course living in Northern California that type of layering lasts me until about noon - when the marine layer burns off, and I get to remove the heavier layering pieces all together.

Today I have an incredibly easy but super fun DIY for you; layering jewelry with your favorite pair of leather boots! For the project simply find an oversized bracelet or an extra long necklace, and wrap around the ankle of your boot. I chose a pearl bracelet: it's one that I made myself several years ago. I love how the pale pink pearls pop against the dark green leather of my boots. If you've got an extra long string of pearls or costume jewelry, that will work just as well.

I love this because not only is it super easy, but it's perfect for updating almost any look. The pearls are playful and completely unexpected. A great way to put a fresh spin on the shoes you've been wearing all winter! Just remember to always make sure everything is safely secured, and to stay away from puddles during those spring rains. Have fun!
