Can you believe that Thanksgiving is tomorrow? I feel like just yesterday I was dressed up as Minnie Mouse and going door-to-door for trick-or-treating. (Yes, that happened! The adults were cool about it, and the kids overly enthusiastic to have an adult asking them for candy. LOL.)
November has flown by for me and I feel as though the later half of this year has slipped away. In August I made a big move and left a city that I had called home for nearly 7 years. I left without any second guesses, and without looking back. Taking time to reflect on that decision, I can see that my lack of hesitation meant that I truly made the right decision for myself. However it my heart took a while to catch up. Suddenly I was in a town that I thought I knew, only to find that there was so much more to discover...
And by "so much more to discover" I mean brunch spots. For me waking up in a new town and not knowing where to have brunch is like reaching into your purse only to discover that your wallet is missing. It's disorienting. In the 4 months since my move I have made some strides: I've found a speakeasy that is open until 2am on the weekends, a new hiking spot that is just begging for me to get lost in (and indeed, I already have), and a few boutiques that I cannot wait to splurge at. I'd say I'm adjusting pretty well 😉
This BCBG dress is a most recent purchase of mine. It's a little unusual for me in that I don't actually own anything else in this shade of blue. I purchased it on sale for what I assume was a summer clearance. Lately the idea of winterizing summer dresses has been something that I have wanted to play around with. For this dress I felt that it would look best if I played up the blue, instead of trying to down play it with black. So I decided to head to Nordstrom and pick up a pair of navy blue tights, and a matching turtleneck. I love how the look turned out!
My Coolway Lucille boots (c/o) are so comfortable that I was able to spend the entire day wandering about without any discomfort. For me fall is all about the boots - and these are perfect! Both Coolway USA and Musse & Cloud have a stunning collection of boots available for the fall and winter. Be sure to stay tuned, as I will be highlighting my favorite pairs in my upcoming posts.
Also - don't forget! I am hosting a giveaway for the month of November to give one lucky reader a free pair of shoes! To enter to win simply subscribe to my monthly newsletter. To learn more, read this post.
My favorite part about this dress is how well it has seamlessly fit into the rest of my closet. I have a buffalo plaid coat (similar, cheaper style here) that is just begging to be worn with this dress once the weather becomes cooler. Alternatively I see this working well for a casual summer date; I'd pair the dress with strappy nude sandals, and toss my hair up in a ponytail. Given the elastic, drop-waist, I'd say that this dress is also perfect for tomorrow's meal!
