At Home

One of the first things people ask when they visit my apartment is "Wait, did you paint all these?" and I answer proudly that yes, I did - and that the photos are all mine too. Being an art major, my home is covered with art - something which I honestly love. It's my ultimate goal to have all my walls covered in art - I love how each piece has a story to tell.

While hanging canvases is easy, one of the challenges with hanging art is finding the perfect frame for photographs. Thankfully the online brand Fracture makes it as easy as selecting a favorite image; That's it! They print beautiful, high quality glass images and ship it directly to my door, and even provide the screw to hang it. I have a couple of glass photos hanging throughout my home, and they are now the first thing visitors comment on.

One of my favorite things in my home is my ghost chair. It's a clear acrylic chair that adds a modern flare while blending seamlessly with the rest of my decor (probably because it's clear). The grey rug is from Ikea; and honestly if you're ever looking for a rug, start there. However the piece I'm the most proud of is my leaning mirror. I hunted for it for months - I looked high and low, all over the internet and the Bay Area, and guess where I found it? Ross! I think I paid $120 for it. The frame is solid wood, and the thing probably weighs in at a $1 a pound.

My home is also filled with several DIY projects - I've found that while it is much easier to go out and buy a decorative item such as a coffee table, or little decorative knick knacks, it's much more satisfying to create something and have the memory of making it. The little gold elephant? I bought it as a toy at Wal-Mart and spray painted it gold!

In many ways my home is my sanctuary away from the outside world - so I try my best to fill my home with as many beautiful things as possible; natural light, fresh flowers, and snapshots of Paris, and other travels. I love that each and every art piece hanging on the wall means something special. It truly is a thing of beauty when your home is also a personalized jewel box of sweet memories. ❤
