Friendly Inspiration

Last Friday Fermin and I, along with some friends headed into San Francisco to hang out in the Mission and grab drinks. I am always inspired by my friends, constantly picking up on how they style themselves. Mirembe's wide leather belt paired with high waisted jeans and blue/green heels that night looked amazing. When she walked through my door with her blazer draped over her shoulders, she embodied chic. Her boyfriend Ocean wore all black with brown dress shoes and a black hat.. I'd have to say that his outfit was a direct inspiration for my outfit today. Perhaps when it gets colder I'll be able to style this outfit with a coat and drape it over my shoulders a la Mirembe.

While my most recent trip to Paris was difficult in many ways, I will admit that I hit the jackpot when it came to shopping. These leather ankle boots took some time for me to decide on: I don't make purchases easily, even if the item is on sale. I spent almost an hour taking them on and off, and wandered around the shoe department while wearing them... And it was my second time 'visiting' the shoe! In the end I walked out happy with the sales ladies happy to see me go.  I love these boots. The heel looks higher than it feels, and I feel so perfectly Parisian whenever I wear them.

Have you heard of Willow & Clay? I had the chance to meet with them while at MAGIC. I remember on of the (many) things that impressed me about their collections was their faux leathers. I haven't felt a faux leather so soft and supple before. The 'leathers' are soft to the touch, drape nicely, and lack that plastic-y sheen that most fauxs often have. It was explained to me that the material is washed in a special way to give it the super supple texture. I am going to have so much fun with these pieces this season!
