Winter at Domaine Carneros Winery

Having attended college in the Napa Valley, the Domaine Carneros chateau was a common sight to see while traveling between the Bay and campus. Known for their sparkling and Pinot Noir wines, the winery sits on a sloping hillside overlooking the valley. Stepping on to the grounds, one feels like they have been transported to the French countryside - and when walking through the door of the chateau, a portrait of Madame du Pompadour is there to greet the guests.

This winter has been a cold and wet one for Northern California - so much so that the area is now out of it's 5 year drought! As a result the entire area has lakes, rivers, and streams that are full once again, and all the hills are bright and green.

Whenever the weather turns cold, I find myself reaching for comforting layers; whether it's the soft cashmere sweaters that I have become obsessed with, the microfiber electric heating blanket, or the fleece sheets on my bed, all I want is to be soft, cozy, and warm. That's one of my favorite things about the winter: it's cuddle weather! h
