The Dillon Shirt

Happy Monday loves! Ready to start that weekday grind? With the spring-forward time change now fully adjusted to, I am finding it easier to wake up in the mornings. I have to admit: it took me a while. The weather forecast calls for an entire week of sunshine for Sonoma County, and I am thrilled. There is something so rejuvenating about being able bask in the warm embrace of a sunny day.

As promised in earlier posts, I have decided to stick to the classics for spring. It makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier. The trick is to style classics together in unexpected ways; such as tying up the front of the Dillon shirt and pairing it with a pleated skirt. The joy about stripes is that they play so well with other patterns; such as florals and polka dots. For this outfit, instead of pairing my Dillon top with a floral pattern (such as a scarf, for example), I opted to wear a set of hand beaded flower earrings which I purchased in Mexico some time ago. What I enjoy about the earrings is that they match everything I'm wearing without being too matchy-matchy. In a season of co-coordinating sets, it's important to break things up a bit!

Downtown Santa Rosa is currently undergoing a renovation of sorts; and this beautiful building is the newest remodel. It's lovely study in contrasts with its crisp white perforated walls and grey textured cement foundation. The silver planter boxes in front of the building give it a classic minimalist vibe, which really makes it pop against the sea of red brick that makes up a majority of downtown. Isn't it fascinating how sticking with the classics - no matter if it's stripes, or architecture, can make one stand out, and have others take notice? It's a beautiful thing!
