Downtown SR

Hello! This weekend was full of lots of fun; My boyfriend and I tried out two new places: the first being a breakfast-bakery in one of my favorite parts of town, and the second a bar in Healdsburg that has some dangerously delicious drinks. Also, I met with two very talented and local artists and we've put together a really cool collaboration. More on that to come later. But for those of you who are with me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably already know my super exciting news: I'm going to New York Fashion Week!!

I've been wanting to attend NYFW forever and much like MAGIC, this is a longtime dream that I'm working very hard on realizing. I'm excited, nervous, and perhaps a little over-concerned about how cold I'm going to be. The closest thing I have to compare to New York is Paris. Believe it or not, I would feel about 110% less apprehensive if I was attending Fashion Week in Paris, and not New York - not because I don't want to attend (because believe me, I do!), but only because I have no idea what to expect. The only real exposure I have had of New York is through media and that media has been Sex and the City, and Law and Order. So basically I'm imaging that everyone is absolutely gorgeous, but also deadly. My friend Ocean tells me that I have to learn how to "shoulder check" when in the streets. Everyone else tells me to stay far away from Times Square, that rats are the size of obese geese, and never, no not ever, am I to buy the $1 slices of pizza. Plus, I'm going without my boyfriend..!

I got this. Right? I mean, I'm perfectly at home in Paris; a city where I am not fluent in the language, and I have still managed to learn the metro, the neighborhoods, and the culture. Surely I will be ok in a city that is still on American soil! Either way this is the typical nervous banter that goes on in my head when I set out to meet new horizons. I'm so excited to discover the city that never sleeps!
